Beschreibung: Sue Townsend (1946 - 2014). "The Queen and I " and Paddington Bear.
Before Queen Elizabeth (ER II) died in September 2022 she had tea with Paddington and shared a marmalade sandwich and some sound advice with him.
The novels look at the way Her Majesty and her family would have coped with living among her subjects in a council house (Sozialwohnung) if a Labour Government had abolished the monarchy in a bloodless revolution. An in-depth study of the novel teaches you social and class differences in language, styles, and tastes and why Her Majesty and Paddington had a lot in common.
Prince Charles´s “Mummy” (his words) was a Sphynx, who never commented on events in her realm. In his former life King Charles III talked to his plants at his Highgrove Estate and campaigned for the protection of the environment and for a traditional lifestyle and architecture. We will see whether he has become The Green King, who intervenes actively in the politics of the country, which he should represent impartially.
Join the seminar to learn which social and charitable activities members of the Royal Family support and what advantages their patronage means for charities or institutions.
Paddington´s biography and his way to stardom is a side-line in this seminar. You are invited to write the scripts for his advice to His Majesty/Her Majesty. At the beginning of each seminar session, we will look at "Current Events in GB During the Last Week". You choose one of the events to draft a memo to Little England´s then Prime Minister for his weekly audience with His Majesty.
Copies of the novel are available at: Buchhandlung Zur Heide, Dielinger Str. Osnabrück.
